Tool of the Week: Constant Contact

It can be tedious to draft and design the right email messages for your audience, time them, and maintain correspondence throughout the customer relationship. Constant Contact, as its name implies, allows for appropriately timed communications alongside access to a variety of email templates and easy-to-use customization tools. You will be able to utilize one of their out-of-the box templates and then modify it to personalize your email to fit your needs.

One of the benefits of the email templates is that they are mobile-responsive. Once you finish your email design, you can quickly preview both desktop and mobile emails to ensure that the visuals are reflective of your brand and well suited to each platform.

Email automation is by far the biggest advantage of using a tool like Constant Contact because it can be difficult to find the time to stay in communication with your audience. Constant Contact’s autoresponder makes this easy by allowing you to schedule a full series of emails in advance. For example, you can set up an automated campaign that allows you to effectively get your audience onboard and answer their questions.

If you already have a list of contacts,  you can easily upload them from Excel, Gmail, Outlook, Salesforce, and more, keeping you from needing to manually enter each one. It can also help avoid duplicate contacts.

Key to ensuring the success of your email marketing efforts, Constant Contact includes email tracking tools to monitor how many clicks, opens, and sends you get for each email. You can even compare up to 5 campaigns at a time to evaluate the performance of each one against each other.

There are two pricing plans to select from: Email and Email-Plus. Email-Plus grants you additional access to features such as online donation blocks, surveys, event management, and a coupon action blocks to drive more interaction with your audience.

The cost for both plans is determined by the list size of your email contacts. For example, $45 is the monthly rate for the email-plus plan with a list size less than 500 contacts. In contrast, the standard email plan is $20 per month with the same number of contacts. Constant Contact offers a free 60-day trial, giving you access to all their marketing tools, online support, and other resources on their Email-Plus plan to see if Constant Contact might be right for you.
